I recall a similar thing happening sometime back maybe in the late-eighties, early-nineties. Dude that owned an excavating company lost his house in a divorce. The house was solely in his name until it was awarded to her. The title had not been transfer yet, so he took the opportunity to knock the whole thing down with one of his bulldozers. The court ruled that it was still his house, and he could do what he wanted. I think the only thing they got him on was not filing for the proper permits (to knock the house down).
Dude. Source? Plz? There's lots of precedent for penalizing folks for deliberately destroying assets they were ordered to transfer, whether in a divorce or in a corporate takeover, etc. But it can be expensive to take people to court for doing that, so it's definitely theoretically possible a guy got away with that. I'd love to read about it!
With a good lawyer you can get away with murder, just ask OJ. My last got and gets nothing. I was able to get her to pay me! I kept records of the work on her place I did. Kept receipts and paid bills for contractors and materials. Even so I ended up loosening a bundle. How do you bill your own time? But the joy was after the place sold I got $$$
