Justice Department investigating Abbott baby formula plant

NEW YORK - The U.S. Justice Department is investigating the Abbott Laboratories infant formula plant in Michigan that was shut down for months last year due to contamination, the company confirmed.

  2. If the DOJ has any role in this at all, it sounds like they should investigate the FDA. Im sure DOJ will come up with some sort of heavy fine that will go to "government employee bonuses".

  3. Consolidation in every facet of our manufacturing sector leads to just this scenario.
    WTF ever happened to the notion that these conglomerates can become to big and far too powerful.

  4. I work with manufacturing plants. Abbott Labs should not have allowed these deficiencies to linger particularly any that affect product quality.
    More importantly, FDA ‘working’ inspectors reported problems; FDA’s Leadership should have known the consequences to the supply chain from a total plant shutdown. Gov’t mishandled this whole situation.
