Rent The Chicken offers Texas residents the opportunity to raise their own chickens and farm their own eggs.
According to their website, starting at about $535, eligible customers can rent chickens for up to six months, depending on the availability.

Or you can look online or in your local smut sheet for somebody that's giving away a free dog run to use as a coop, buy a couple sheets of plywood to roof it and build a henhouse with, then go to a nearby hatchery or feed store and buy a couple almost ready to lay pullets that will be yours to keep for under 20 bucks a pop.
And a warning to customers: Don't kill the chicken that lays the Golden Egg.
ReplyDeleteOn the "news" this morning they were opining about the huge uptick of egg smuggling across the Southern border. I had no idea it was a crime. Which of course makes me want to participate. I remember smuggling cigarettes from NC to Florida in the 60's, for a huge profit.
