When the Los Angeles Police Department first found a sniper rifle, two assault rifles and a "thousand of rounds" of ammo from the home of Braxton Johnson, both the public – and the police – initially feared Johnson may have been plotting a possible mass shooting. But after a series of investigation, LAPD announced Thursday night that there were "no indications that any persons were threatened with a firearm nor have [LAPD] identified any intent by Johnson to plan a mass shooting incident."

Just curious, but if they consider an AR to be a high powered weapon, what would a standard rifle be?
One of the first and easiest ways to spot a liar trying to manipulate you, is incorrect use of language.
ReplyDeleteWords are very precise, we have a huge vocabulary. But when someone uses a word inappropriately it tells you 1 of 2 things: they're stupid, or they're manipulating you.
Either way, keep your distance.
Or both if you are dealing with the left.....
DeleteI pray they never search my abode, hold my beer.....
ReplyDeleteSomeone with English as their 2nd language write this article.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a leftist....
DeleteWhat is a "sniper rifle" to the people who write such things?
ReplyDeleteAny rifle with a scope.
DeleteYup. About 10 years ago there was a homicide close to here. The local paper said that the person was "shot with a high powered lever action sniper rifle"...
DeleteA thousand rounds? A sniper rifle and high powered weapons? I buy that many rounds in one order.
ReplyDeleteMy question as well, sniper rifle? WTF over? Hahahahah. We just call that a well placed shot/round, oh yeah from a huge distance. Its sad, that to the part of out society that have never used or own guns, that one or two rifles and a few thousand rounds implies you are planning evil deeds. Well hate to inform them those evil deeds, yep they are in their minds, they are the evil. Look we just want to be left alone but no they keep pushing and pushing and pushing. Eventually this shit show is gunna snap. Then what? Well heres one from child hood they want to review and it goes like this. “All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn’t put (your liberal ass)/society back together again”. And every day they push harder, and shit just gets weirder and crazier each and every fookin day. Ok rant is over.
ReplyDeleteI looked this up once because people like to say certain rifles are not a sniper rifle.
ReplyDeletePart of what makes a firearm a sniper rifle is long range. For example, say the "effective range" of a .22 is 50yds to 75yds. Therefore, to shoot at 100yds with a .22 could be considered long range. The "effective range" of a .223 is 200yds to 300yds, so you could say shooting at 400yds with the .223 could be considered long range. Some say long range doesn't begin until 500yds, so granted, the definition of "long range" changes depending on who has the soapbox at the moment.
However, the definition part which is not vague is, combat, because a sniper rifle is a combat rifle. Civilians aren't in combat. Therefore, even if it is a long range rifle, it's not a sniper rifle in the hands of a civilian. Sniper rifles are used by law enforcement and military, in combat.
I'd be happy to be updated if I'm incorrect.
You are incorrect in that you are using facts and logic in your definitions and not emotions and how things look.

The rest of us call them hunting rifles for deer, elk, or other game animals.
DeleteAs I said in another comment, to the crowd that thinks monkey pox was racist, it is considered a "sniper" rifle because that is the only way they think it would be used.
He has two mental conditions, as far as I can tell, one is he willingly moved to the city, the second that he willingly lives in California.
ReplyDeleteA question. Can he sue the police for slander since they first described him as a potential mass shooter and then stated.
“At this point of the investigation, there are no indications that any persons were threatened with a firearm nor have we identified any intent by Johnson to plan a mass shooting incident. We are working with our Federal partners to exhaust all investigative leads and believe there is no threat to the public. We are also in communication with Johnson’s family to provide any support services needed.”
Al_in_Ottawa
Well, as long as they're willing to provide "support services", it's all righty then.
DeleteThey also state it was out on the balcony pointing down towards a park. Of course, no evidence photos so the public could actually see what they meant.
DeleteA "sniper rifle" or is it a deer hunting rifle, a bear rifle, or an aoudad sheep rifle? I shoot a pistol weekly so I have "thousand of rounds" for every caliber I shoot. I have a small inventory compared to many of my friends.
ReplyDeleteThe LAPD mindset: When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: '...everyONE looks like a nail."
DeleteGeez, hate to see what people on the Left Coast would say about the large box that obviously fell off a truck while going over a bridge that 'used to' be in my closet.
ReplyDeleteI used to think a 1,000 rounds was a lot of bullets until I went to the range. A short time on the range is 50 rounds with one gun.
ReplyDeleteI get the sense that he must be guilty of something. They simply needs to dig deep enough and look hard enough to find out what it is. I'm sure the LAPD, BATF, FBI and the Red Queen will c̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶u̶p̶ investigate fairly the extent of his crimes. It's much easier when you can start with the verdict and work backwards.
