  2. Buffalo calf?
My favorite time at the ranch was in the first couple of hours after sunup when the calves were just a couple of months old. They'd be playing with each other, doing that cute little hop that guy is doing.
Ah, to be so full of wonder and joy.

  5. Depending on what the wife decides we will have four, five or six calves come June or July. The Mamas should be dropping them in about two months. They will be about three months old when we get them. Ought to be an intresting adventure.

    2. Elmo, I agree. These are mini cows and our neighbors raise them for a living. They have quite a herd. Very healthy so I'm listening to what they say to do. There is a lot of studies on early weaning which is intresting to read.

    3. Okay, you guys know what you're doing. Pardon me for buttin' in. :-)

We wean our Black Baldies at 7 months. They seem to gain a whole lot of weight between month 6 and when we ship them after they're weaned. But then they're regular bovines.
