Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok is at the top of the list when it comes to collecting data on their users, a joint US and Australia cyber security organization reported last week.
I used to work for a chinese owned company. Tiktok was the only social media platform not allowed on company phones. Also no prrsonal phones with it installed could be brought into meeting rooms or control rooms.
From only your browser history I could complete an accurate profile of you. Your ethnicity, level of education, age, spending habits, where you live, and more. Imagine how much more the guys who do this for a living.
Your browsing history tells me a lot about you. It also exactly matches those who's browsers tell a lot about them. With ten or ten thousand such matches, the image is grainy. With ten million or 100 million of matches, I can see you as clear as a bell. Even though your browser is full of useless crap.
I doubt their ability...relying on what I look at is subjective at best on their part. I make sure to sprinkle my searches with so much vanilla that I look to be middle of the road and nothing to see here. They have no idea of my ethnicity or social status and income because of huge voids that can't be interpreted by the algos searching the key words political or otherwise. I cannot be monetized. I go dark on the reg often as well. Gonna be an slog for them. Good luck!
Heck, my 3 favorite YouTube channels are “Forgotten Weapons,” “Celebrating Appalachia” and “Appalachian Storyteller.” Not too much of a stretch to figure out race, sex and age just from those three data points. And you’d probably be able to guess political and religious affiliation with a pretty fair degree of certainty, too.
I never ever believe anything that comes from any politician or the lame-assed media. Anyone that denys the fact that everything you do online is monitored, collected, sifted, sold, and otherwise used against you is too dumb to continue converting O2 into CO2.
A lot of red-blooded folks including guys and girls are addicted to Tik Tok to get their fill of hot very young babes dressed in bikinis bouncing their boobs around. That audience isn't interested that the Chinks know what they had for breakfast let alone what their ss numbers are.
Orange Man Bad already told us that we should not trust it. That therefore is enough of a reason to keep it.
