If they think violence is a problem now, wait until the nicotine fits start

WASHINGTON - More than half of U.S. adults support ending the sale of all tobacco products, according to new research published by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Meanwhile, nearly two-thirds of adults said they support banning the sale of menthol cigarettes.

  1. Oh please govern harder!!
How nearsighted do have to be to think more bans/regulation/restrictions are a good thing?

  2. People are stupid.
    No fixing that.
Not a soul exists that doesn't know the dangers of smoking.
    You have a choice.

  3. Well, you can grow that, too. I guess. My season is a little short.

  4. Banning menthol cigarettes?
What demographic is that aimed at?

And I'm sure the tobacco farmers are going to learn to code.

  5. I was a three-pack a day smoker until I quit on Jan. 13, 1974 at 3:40 PM. Mostly
Wiinstons but I did throw in a pack of Alpines from time to time. They're talking about menthol enhancing the nicotine effect but it used to be because Black people liked menthol cigarettes. Who cares It's their choice. I can't take being around the smoke anymore.

    1. Two and a half to three packs a day, the real deal Camels, non filtered 25 years ago. Cold turkey, no aids. My dying wish is a pack of Camels. They are about 12 bucks a pack here now.

    2. Started with Hav A Tampa cigars. Box of 50/week. Switched to Camel straights. 5 packs/day at my peak. Worked in foundries, so it didn't matter. Wife wouldn't do the "hand picture" at our wedding because of nicotine stains. Haven't smoked in 25(?) years.

    3. Me too, on the cold turkey. For a week I'd come home from work and just go to bed. After a week, I said I might make it. After a month I knew. I can't imagine supporting the habit on what they cost now. When I quit it was still less than fifty cents a pack even in machines. My dad smoked Camels until a couple of heart attacks convinced him.

    4. 2 packs of Camels a day. Quit in 74 when my youngest was born. I always tell my wife that when they start lobbing nukes or the Caldera blows I'm going to race to the gas station and get a pack. She wants me to get her a bag of chips

  10. Banning something doesn't stop the activity.  They have been bitching about prostitution since the Bible was written.  Smoke...don't smoke...it's your choice.

  12. When I started smoking, cigs on base were $1.85 carton. I finally quit last July after 40+ years of two plus packs a day.

  14. The authoritarian impulse has always been strong and it's increasing over time. It has already destroyed the republic and will soon overwhelm our society.

  15. How many people support banning of all foreign aid? How many support abolition of The IRS?

Suffering the political officers of those that call us enemy, to live among us, is a plan. Should we rig a vote, to see if it's a good plan?

  16. Went through a cartoon a week of unfiltered Pall Malls. Quit cold turkey in 1984. I still crave the damned things. I prefer to not be around cigarette smoke, or vaping, but support each persons right to go to hell in whatever manner they see fit.

The assholes who want to control everything, for our benefit of course, should look to the history of the 18th and 21st Amendments. They won't, because their feelings are more important than mere facts.

  17. We're believing anything the CDC says? After their bs gun violence studies, and bs COVID lies?

  18. I quit smoking when it was a choice between smoking and eating. If you had ever seen me eat in my early 20's, you would understand immediately.

  19. I do not smoke but given prices per pack, I am amazed those who do smoke can afford the habit. Where I live, a pack sells for $7.95 and up.

  20. Yes, we all know the dangers of smoking. We also know the dangers of alcohol and I am not even addressing the addiction part, but we're not going to ban that. It is also ironic that the people who smoke pot think somehow there is no physical damage from filling your lungs with that stuff (which has a high tar factor BTW). And then we have the gov who let's people smoke, snort and ingest heroin, meth, crack and a host of other chemicals. Ban tobacco and see the loss in tax revenue across the board. It isn't just growing states but it's states that tax the product. We don't grow tobacco in Ohio but all 88 counties and the cities in those counties tax tobacco products and it's a great deal of money.

  21. Cigaretts are not even the beginning. Chynia supplies 90% of the drugs in the US. Imagine a world where the mood enhancers and essential meds needed to keep people alive and sane arent available. Covid will be a fond memory shortly after this problem begins.
