A 24-year-old woman is dead after overdosing on fentanyl while in a rehab facility in Riverside. Her devastated family is now suing, claiming the now-defunct clinic was not following proper protocols.
Perhaps the dead overdosed woman's parents could have done a better job of raising their daughter. Perhaps the dead overdosed woman could have behaved like a responsible 24 year old adult instead of a dope-head. But no...it's always someone else's fault.
Putting the blame on the parents is just as bad. Plenty of people raise their kids well only to have them turn into dope fiends. My parents, for example..... the reasons for addiction, whether it be drugs, alcohol, food or whatever, are way too numerous and complex for me to understand.
All of those things could well be true. I'm sure the parents are struggling with guilt. Obviously the girl could, at least theoretically have done things different. The rehab place may have been perfectly run but probably not. Opioid addiction has been described to me like having a starving rat in your stomach frantically clawing to get out. If that is true it is unsurprising that bad choices would be made. Some addicts start because they had physical trauma and their doctors handed out opioids like candy. Some suffered abuse. There are lots of paths that end up in a hellish existence as Wirecutter said. Whatever the causes and failures, every minute that anyone suffers from addiction is a tragedy for them and anyone who cares for them. One reason it is hard for the addicted to get help and be honest about what they are suffering is that they are ashamed of what they are doing and fear judgement and rejection until they have been so consumed they are unable to care about anything else.
It is good to know there are people like yourself who have done everything right and raised their children perfectly. No doubt you and yours have faced every adversity and responded perfectly. No need to count your blessings and give thanks to the Lord for your good fortune. Jesus must be so proud of you - He finally perfected His creation. I'm sure you will soon receive a golf framed plaque noting your achievements and His eternal thanks for your perfection.
What Kenny said. Easy to armchair when it ain't you or one of yours. Everybody, at some point, makes their own choices. I'm old enough to have seen crappy parents raise kids that turned out very well, indeed.
She did it to herself, the why will never be answered... that's just the way it is. A great deal of sadness for her family on their loss of a child. Now the lawyers & her family trying to make a payday out of it are something else again....
29 years sober. No one made her hit the pipe. If you want it, you're going to get it. You can get what ever you want and nobody can stop you unless it's a total lock down facility. Nobody can do it for you. Been to rehab. Saved my life. When I went through we were told only 3 out of 100 would remain sober for life. So far I'm one of the three. You gotta want it more than anything else and you have to do it for you. Not mom and dad or the wife or even the kids, it's all for you. Because you're no good to anyone, not even yourself if you're on the shit
Starker here, don't go assuming it was bad parenting. Sometimes they find any reason to feel that the world owes them, something or everything. In my experience two out of three aren't bad. I still have hope for the third. Her life path continues to be a rollercoaster.

What's it like to be perfect?

ReplyDeleteIn Riverside another schyster ambulance chaser hear's the tingle of a lucritive 30% award as a druggie angel gets her wings.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
