Florida bill would require state registration for bloggers before writing about DeSantis, cabinet

Republican state senator Jason Brodeur of Florida has proposed a new bill that would require bloggers who write about Gov. Ron DeSantis, his Cabinet officers, and members of the Florida legislature to register with the state.

  1. It's my opinion that this isn't a serious bill. It's being done to make a point. If I shouldn't be required to register to practice my 1A rights, then why should I register to practice my 2A rights?

    1. How women got the vote.

A legislator stuck in an amendment to a bill as a joke intended to make sure the bill wouldn't pass.
His amendment wasn't a 'poison pill', it was purely meant as a joke.

Well hush my mouth, the bill passed into law.

  2. The idea here was to expose bloggers that are paid foreign agents and those paid by the left to make up a story instead of honest opinion. The point about registering to have use of First Amendment rights was probably just trolling the left.

    1. That's pretty much to keep out the spam comments. We get a shitload of them.

    3. You have a right to know exactly who is posting on your platform. To keep the bots at bay, and to avoid the nut jobs who might try to advocate for civil war, because you don't need to be involved in any part of that BS.
Plus, like we all know, the Feds are not at all above trolling or chumming for the crazies who are just waiting for the push by some one with a functioning brain to act as a default leader. Give them enough rope and all that, don't you know.
Stay vigilant, and my best to your lovely bride and your family. Also I am glad to see that you have built a wonderful home and way of life in the town you settled in. Good neighbors that will help you like family are the way things used to be in my small town, but drugs, especially meth, have ruined it since it was a poor town due to the factories in nearby Muskegon closing down. People would drive 40 miles each way to work for the highest wages on the west half of the whole state, mostly in the foundry system, made huge during the 2nd World War. We had the largest grey iron foundry in the world for decades.
Now we have become a tourist town, with the shores of Lake Michigan the attraction. Beautiful yes but no money for the working class.
Stay safe and hold your family and friends tightly, because the older we get, the more important they are.
Things here in Michigan are going well, other than the Democrat government. But I try to ignore them and hope they will return the favor.
Blessings to all who stick it out this far. I can give you a Bible verse to support the whole thing if you want it, but it is enough on it's own.

    1. Agreed. Unconstitutional on its face. I want to believe it is a troll on gun registration laws, but there is really nothing too stupid to believe a politician capable of doing.

  8. Yet how many complained when obama classified his family history right after getting in the White House??

    1. The America part of his family history is so short you could write it on a tea bag sleeve.
