South Carolina House Passes Constitutional Carry…Again

On February 22, 2023, the South Carolina House passed a Constitutional Carry bill with 75% of the votes, 90 to 30. Constitutional or “permitless” Carry is when a state does not require a permit to carry loaded handguns, openly or concealed, for most adults in most public places, a close approximation of the state of the law when the Second Amendment was ratified in 1791. 1. Keep and renew them in case you travel. Lots of States honor other State's permits.

    2. I upgraded my TN permit to lifetime for that reason. Also, they will have to take it from me (not just legislate something that makes renewal impossible or overly arduous). Not that they aren't capable, but its a more ornerous task.

  2. That's the reason I got the UT permit, enhanced reciprocity and I have to thank my original instructor for that 411. Retaining the SC CWP will also mean no waiting when purchasing a handgun here in SC IIRC.

  3. That takes care of the non-reciprocity that Georgia and South Carolina had for carry permits. Both states now have Constitutional Carry. I will keep my GA carry permit active. I also have a FL non-resident carry permit because FL has more states in reciprocity than GA does.
