When you pry my skillet from my cold dead fingers.....

It wasn’t until America’s crooked fact-checkers said Joe Biden had no intention of banning gas stoves that I was certain Joe Biden would ban gas stoves. And now we know he is — 96 percent of them.

“Yes, the Biden administration is coming for your gas stove,” writes Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) in the Washington Examiner.

It’s a backdoor ban by way of outrageous regulations only four percent of gas stoves will meet. And it’s being done, not through democracy and our elected representatives, but by fascist bureaucrats in the Department of Energy.

  3. One great thing about a gas stove is that you can manually light it and cook even when the electricity goes out. No oven, though.

    1. "No oven, though."

That's when you use the top of your wood stove as an oven. It takes some practice to do it right, but it's definitely doable.

    2. It’s what Dutch ovens were created for.

    3. Gas ovens work fine, even without any electric at all, unless it's an "electric start" type. Those use a small electric heating element to ignite the oven, and since it turns on and off, there's absolutely NO way to run them without electric. That little heating element is also the most frequent part of the oven to need replaced, as it gets so hot it wears out eventually.

Without electric start, gas ovens need a pilot light, and still work fine. Harder to find them nowadays though. My last three gas stoves have been electric start.

  4. If you can get a long lighter on the thermocouple you can light the oven on some of them

  5. Remember: This has nothing to do with the EU needing LNG (at a higher price than domestic use) because nord stream was blown up totally not by the US Navy. This is a coincidenc, and any assertion otherwise is a racist conspiracy theory.

    1. I don't know whether to be proud of my Navy for blowing it up or ashamed of my country for having it blown up.
And I think DoE is about to learn the same lesson about changing regulations that EPA and ATF learned.

  6. They're also coming for water heaters that actually work.

  8. On a related note, I got my new PG&E bill yesterday. My Tier 1 rate went from 32 1/2 cents to just over 34 cents per KwH.

I can't wait for BigGuv to ban my gas appliances and wood stove so I can go all electric!

  9. I had to replace my gas stove a couple months ago. Oven control valve went tits up. The stove was ~45 years old. If the oven control was still working, I would have continued to use it. I can't wait for someone to try to tell me that I can't use it anymore and have to replace it with electric.

Read a story else where this morning relating that San Fran, that bastion of leftist thought on the left coast has outlawed gas stoves and water heaters and made a provision to outlaw gas furnaces when/if they need replacement.
