Norfolk, Virginia, Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, agents were in for a surprise last week after a passenger put their pet cat through the checkpoint X-ray machine.
I used to work at a nuke plant. Every now and then someone would forget and take their dosimetry home and leave it in their bag on the way back in. It would get x-rayed. This has been 15 years or so, and memory is questionable. However, I seem to recall being told it was ~60 Rem on those things when it happened. I hope that cat had a nice life. It won't be around much longer unless they've really dropped the dose on those things!
