ATF releases first report on U.S. gun crime in 20 years

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives released data on guns used in crimes from 2017 to 2021, including the ages of those who originally purchased the guns, in its first report on firearms in 20 years.

  1. “If I have allowed my gun to be somewhere unsafe and someone got ahold of it, a 12-year-old, 13-year-old, and they went and committed a crime, I’m just as guilty as they are,” Greenlee said.

I want to steal her car and run over some bicyclists just because she is as guilty as I am.

    1. I was a bit surprised that Greenlee was another usual GTR subject instead of some dildo humping wild-eyed anglo female college student. My bad.

  2. What does the age of the original purchaser have to do with anything?

  3. The article. right of the bat, says firearms are the "leading cause of death for our kids" which is not true. A more telling statistic is that "Suicides have become the second-leading cause of death among teenagers in the United States, surpassing homicide deaths" https://www.prb.org/resources/suicide-replaces-homicide-as-second-leading-cause-of-death-among-u-s-teenagers/

  4. "Firearms are the leading cause of death for our kids in Tennessee and the United States,"
i call B.S. didn't have to do much searching to find that drugs and alcohol deaths are higher than gun deaths among underage persons
    guns 4368 deaths https://usafacts.org/data/topics/security-safety/crime-and-justice/firearms/firearm-deaths/
drugs 893 https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7150a2.htm (you have to dig and do some math. this is a yearly average.
    alcohol 3900 https://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/underage-drinking.htm
so drugs and alcohol, if added together, kill more than firearms.
and no figures for suicide is given, so there's that.

  6. Greenlee...

The math's not hard. But it's a step more than making up a new meaning, for a used word. And using your shiny, new label. Yes. There's cookies in the lobby. Go. Have some.

Now. You, already, understand how what Greenlee wants must be done. So. Do you have any compunction? Any doubt? Of the rectitude of someone, anyone, killing her, her entire household? For any reason? Including for no reason, at all?

Do you, now, grasp? At least claim to see a shadow of? Why nobody, not a single thing, that might be able to choose whether to risk themselves, to shield you, and yours, cares? If you die? For any reason? Including for no reason, at all?

  7. The period of the report conveniently covers the period of the Trump Administration.
Nice plug for the proposed "punish the victim" legislation. No jail time, no fine, but attendance at an "approved" training course... at whatever price the local government sets.
Nobody is asking why people are leaving guns in their cars. Could it be because after jumping through all the hoops to get a CCW license, you can't carry in a lot of places, thus leading to the largest growth industry in Memphis and Nashville-- Auto Burglary.
