Commentary: ‘Net Zero’ Is Not a Rational U.S. Energy Policy
Despite Germany’s last-ditch attempt at realism, the European Union recently approved a 2035 ban on gas-powered cars, moving ahead with its “net zero” emissions agenda. In the U.S., the cost of achieving net-zero carbon emissions would be staggering – $50 trillion if the goal is reached by 2050 – as would the demand for raw materials, which in most cases would exceed current annual worldwide production.

Zero billionaires = Better World
ReplyDelete"Net Zero" isn't designed to be rational, at least not for people outside of the billionaire oligarch ruling class. It is designed to bring ordinary people to heel, to limit their mobility, to make them easier to control and less-free. Just as wind power isn't ready for prime time as a replacement for fossil fuels, electric vehicles are a poor substitute for those powered by fossil fuels. They have less range, and when their batteries are discharged they require as much as 8-10 hours before they can be driven again. Moreover, electric vehicles also have a disturbing propensity to catch fire. Last but not least, they are terribly damaging to the environment, as all of those electric components are highly-toxic when deposited in the trash dump or land-fill. Apart from a few urban dwellers, electric vehicles are simply, if you'll pardon the pun, a non-starter .... and a giant bait-and-switch.
