Floods coming right up!

WILTON – Warmer weather follows a historic snowpack, but what can Northern California expect with this year's snowmelt?

  1. We've been really lucky in that it's been an unusually cool year. Only one 80° day in Sacramento so far this year, with three more in the forecast.
We'll see how this snowpack melt develops.

Lake Shasta is currently within 10 feet of being completely full.

    1. Our temps are all over the place - high 70s for a day or two, then back down in the 50s.

  2. And the climate cycles as it always has. We lived in Chico in 1995. That year a warm rain hit the snow pack. The Sacramento River valley became a giant toilet flush. I remember afterwards driving west towards the Sacramento River from Chico. About a quarter mile from the river, there were wooden bee hives stuck in walnut trees 15 off the ground. They had floated there.

  3. The water is going to go straight down the rivers. Fuck the farmers, those Delta Smelts are so much more important.

  5. Well maybe Lake Oroville will be usable for a bit longer now. Didn't even put the boat in that mud hole last year. As for snow pack , Oh yea! We were up on snowmobiles last weekend at the headwaters of Butte Creek. I figure the Eastern slopes of the mountains will still have snow on them when next winter comes around.
