Nashville 6th worst weed city in U.S., study finds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In 2012, Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational marijuana. Since then, 38 states have legalized marijuana for medical use, with 20 states—and the District of Columbia—legalizing it for recreational use.

In Tennessee, both medical and recreational marijuana use are illegal. After proposed legislation to legalize medical cannabis failed during this year’s General Assembly, it will be at least another year before there is any change to that status.

When I left California, I was paying about 400 bucks a quarter pound for killer green bud. Once I got here to Tennessee, I found the price was right at $1000 for the same quantity, but a lower quality.
That was 7 years ago. I couldn't tell you what it is now.

    1. Oh, but the weed back in the 70s is so outclassed by the weed nowadays. There's really no comparison.

  6. Starker here,
40-50 years ago, weed smelled somewhat like ring boloney. Now all I ever smell is what we used to call Skunkweed. What happened? How can people smoke "skunk"?

    1. Because it's all about the THC levels and not about the mellows.

  7. Holy shit, the prices being posted in these comments. I've never used the stuff, and have no real interest in trying (though the potential for chronic pain in old age could eventually change my view on that) but I observe here where we recently legalized recreational that the "legit" suppliers have billboards proclaiming prices "as low as $55/half oz".

By implication, that's the cheapest stuff they sell. Being the pot neophyte I am, I don't know how far a 1/2 ounce goes, but it sounds like a seriously expensive proposition if one is a regular user.

  8. Here in MN I know several people who drive to Michigan or Illinois to stock up, the state legislature is working hard to legalize it this session. I wonder how big of a hit the dispensaries will take when the MN business stays in state.

  9. A friend's now ex wife is a heavy daily smoker. At a party a while back I asked her if I could have a couple of hits. It was the first I'd smoked in years.
I took one hit and after a few minutes I asked for another. She said give it some time and then ask again. I didn't ask again. I was totally fucking baked for hours. The shit out there now is not anything like what we smoked when I was in my 20s and 30s.
I asked her how much it costs. She pays $600/oz. In the 70s I was paying $400-600/kilo.
