Ruger Reintroduces Marlin Model 336 Classic Lever-Action Rifle

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce the release of the Marlin Model 336 Classic.

The legendary Model 336 helped to build Marlin Firearms into the iconic American brand that it is today,” said Ruger President and CEO, Chris Killoy. “We have worked for many months on every detail to ensure that Ruger‘s reintroduction of this iconic rifle lives up to its stellar reputation.”

  1. i like rugers very much, despite the fact mr. bill didn't think nobody needed more than 10 rnds. Shoosting oughta make a grown man giggle like a wee girl & rugers does that just fine.

  2. This is good news, specially since Ruger acquired Marlin in 2020. Neither company ever figured under the "black, evil assault weapon" category and both made solid guns...I was delighted when Ruger released the 1895 Marlin, then the 1894 and now the 336, their most iconic .30-30 ever...good for them, better for us! I have a Marlin 39A, a lever action .22 tackdriver, made around 1950, still as accurate as from when it came outta the factory...

  3. I LOVE my 336 in 30-30. The Hornady LeverEvolution ammo makes it a 150 yd rifle.

  5. The Marlin 336CS was my first deer rifle. I also had a tube feed Marlin .22 rifle that my dad bought me for my 12th birthday.

They both got stolen by some fucking critters back in 1988. I sure as hell hope those bastards are dead...

    4. Well, I reckon if they pay $560 over list price without doing a little research they pretty much deserve what they get.

    4. I saw a single box of 35 Rem on the shelves of my local gunshop right before deer season last year and while I don't remember the price, I do remember going 'Daaaamn...'

    5. My wife has been using a Marlin 35 deer rifle for years. I am glad I bought a bunch of ammo for it way back when I got it for her. She has knocked down quite a few deer with over the years. Proud hubby.

  8. For that kind of money, I’ll take a Winchester model 92 or 94 or 1895. Or 1886 if you want to go big. I’ve owned or own all of the above and a 336 in 35 Remington. Winchester’s are just more pleasing to me all around. Eod1sg Ret

    1. I was looking for a '92 Trapper in .357 - discontinued by Winchester. Marlin's 1894 was not on my radar at that time. And the Brazilian clones had a poor reputation.
I did find a scarce .44Mag. Browning (Miroku) '92 but passed on that one.
Finally, in 1995, Winchester reintroduced the '94 Trapper. I grabbed one in spite of the ugly crossbolt safety.
No regrets, but I'm looking forward to Ruger's version which is reportedly on the horizon.

    2. I have "pre crossbolt safety" "pre Remmington" pre everything 1894 Marlin .357 Mag with Microgroove barrel. I put an XS sight system rail on it with a Leupold scout scope and a big loop lever (but not too big) from Ranger Point Precision. I also swapped out the loading gate with one from Ranger Point Precision. The XS system puts an elevated front sight on it and you can take the scope off and use the rear ghost ring sight. Out of my whole collection it is right up at the top of the list of my favorites.

    3. Mikey-
Did you get the shim kit when you ordered your medium loop lever from Ranger Point Precision? If not you should. It will make your 1894 Marlin absolutely rattle-free.
RPP's aftermarket extractor is also a must have.

I love Ranger Point Precision and their products.

  9. Henry never stopped making theirs, AND it was always made in America.
Now they have a side gate to match all the others.

Had to go to gunbroker to get my .357 flavor ( https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/big-boy-steel-side-gate/) because all the gun stores within 50 miles of Seguin, TX said it was first come-first served because of the demand (and plandemic supply)

  10. I've got a Glenfield 30A that I purchased in 1978. It's the same basic rifle as the 336 but a cheaper stock and a few minor differences.

  11. I was looking for a short-barrelled Winchester in .357 a number of years ago, was that the Trapper? A gunshop owner looked for one when he was at the big shows, and they just weren't there. I ended up with a Marlin 1894CS which is tight and well made but but I prefer the Winchester receiver style and finish.
