The road dips below the rail grade so abruptly that MANY cars have hit the bridge when travelling a little *cough cough* over the limit into the dip.
The count of trucks that have hit the bridge due to the low clearance is even higher.
This week, the authorities have finally demolished the bridge in order to replace it with one a whole metre (~3 feet) higher. It only took 60+ years.
I write that to say that sometimes (but probably not in THIS case) road design can be the root cause of seemingly impossible road incidents (I refuse to call them "accidents").
