They look like Japanese Giant Hornets. Don't want to get stung by one of them. Be like jabbing a red hot needle into your arm. They are an invasive species.
If Giant Asian Hornets are around the nest, they will be quite aggressive. I don't think there has been any evidence of those in the PNW since '21. It's just a matter of time before they are established here.
