TN GOP passes bills targeting transgender community, risks more than $2B in federal funds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In the final hours of the 113th General Assembly, Tennessee Republicans passed two bills that target the transgender community and puts the state at risk of losing billions in federal funding.

One of the bills would allow teachers and public school employees to not use a student’s preferred pronouns, which according to the fiscal note could violate the U.S. Department of Education’s 2022 rules on gender identity, sexuality and sex-based discrimination.

  1. Screw the Fed funding if it's evil money. Way to go Tenn!!!
We rely too much on the taxes the Feds steal from us then trickle back only if we're good little boys and girls

    1. "If you do this, you don't get federal funding!"

"If we don't get federal funding, we stop paying federal taxes and give it to TN instead. Your move, bitches."

  3. Oddly enough I expect any state that goes against the federal government will do better.

  5. I’m old so I remember TN used to love Democrats. Al gore, sr and jr, lived in Carthage and raise cattle. Sr Gore filibustered the Civil rights act and came off racist af.

Gore jr was elected over and over in TN. Big, huge libtard, climate nut, etc.

I’d really like to know what happened to TN voters. I’m sure a ton of Volunteer guys voted for and loved the Gores. Is there research on wtf happened?

If you guys know, can you bottle and send to Calif?

    1. The Clinton years happened. In 2000, Gore lost both Tennessee and West Virginia. WV had been reliably Democrat for decades, excepting Ike and Nixon. Tennessee was a little more balanced, but went Democrat more than Republican by a small measure.
Clinton had enough charisma and political savvy to get reelected, Gore couldn't pull it off. All of the South underwent a major change during the same time. In Kentucky, it hasn't changed totally at the local level, but even there it is turning Red. I can remember you had to register as a Democrat if you wanted any vote in local elections. They only had Democrats running and who ever won the D primary was automatically the winner of the general election because no Republicans were running. Of course I would usually write in Willie Nelson or Elmer Fudd, just so I could say I voted against whoever won.
The Dems started really going insane during the regime of Bush the Lesser, to the point now most of them need to be medicated. Batshit crazy.
You have to remember, the Republicans did as much harm to the South between 1861 and 2000 as Biden has done to the whole US during his term. Nixon started to change it some, but Clinton's gun control was a bridge too far for most Southerners.

  6. The ONLY WAY to walk away from the disease government spreads is to WALK AWAY COMPLETELY. The DOE obviously needs to be abolished. The way to help encourage that is for the states to stop "needing" them.

  9. Yet the City of San Francisco can drag themselves so far down that they have to employ a staff of poop scoopers at a cost of $30 Million and another staff of do gooders to fret about the homeless for $1.1 Billion. Of course, there's still homeless and shit everywhere, since the money just goes to City employees that "work remotely".

AND THE FEDERAL CASH JUST FLOWS IN! If you lined up buckets of money you couldn't kick them over as fast as we're pumping it into Commufornia in general and San Fran in particular. And the Ds in Tennessee are outraged that some confused delusional teenagers will be misgendered?

    We're doomed.
