Willie Nelson coming to Middle Tennessee on tour as he celebrates 90th birthday

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The iconic Willie Nelson is coming to Middle Tennessee for his 2023 Outlaw Music Festival Tour as he celebrates his 90th birthday.

*****

I saw Willie Nelson in Stockton California about 20 years ago.
Worst show I've ever been to, hands down. The music was waaay too loud for the venue, they played the music too fast and it was basically just a long medley, almost like they were trying to cram a 3 hour show into 2 hours.

    1. Yup, and after the show we had to drive through the deepest darkest part of Africa to get home.

    1. Of all the things to come down on him about, I'd skip the IRS deal. Wouldn't you avoid paying taxes if you could get away with it?

  3. His last few shows have been abbreviated. Heh, He plays about 2:12 secs of a song and then moves on to the next one.
Avoiding paying taxes; ehheeehhe, kinda sorta like a potato brained prez that we know.

  5. Went to his July Fourth concert in the early/mid eighties at Atlanta Motor Speedway. We ran out of beer, (we had brought five cases with us.) and weed. Our buddy who drove us down there, got drunk, took off and left me and my brother down there. So we had to hitch a ride home.

  8. In 1977 I saw Willie in Las Vegas, at the Frontier casino IIRC, in a room that held 90 people. The sound was good, not too loud, and Willie engaged the crowd with some banter and stories. It was a good show.

    1. Saw him in 76 at the old Dallas’s sportetorium . It was a big tin shack but he tore it up.

Wirecutter your experience with Willie is similar to mine with Grand Funk Railroad at the Orleans in Vegas. This venue seats maybe 500 and they had their amps cranked up to arena level. I mean it was painful. Not only that, but I splurged a little on the tix since I had seen them years before in Jackson, MS and they beat the pants of ZZ Top, so I wanted the Mrs to experience a great show. We were about 2 rows back, and along comes some yay-hoo with his girlfriend taking up residence on the stage apron right in front of us. Asked them to move and they ignored me, so I found an usher and explained my gripe, he just threw up his hands and said I would need to talk to the concert hall manager. I gathered my wife and we left. Haven't been back since.
