Adams unveils plan to tackle NYC shoplifting

Shoplifting has become a crisis in New York City, with recent numbers showing a 44 percent jump in incidents in 2022.

Mayor Adams says repeat offenders were behind a third of those thefts last year, and now he is rolling out a new plan to tackle the issue.

  1. And the plan described is focused on the amateur first-time thieves, not the professionals.

Judges should be able to give the thieves a day in jail for every $10 in value they jacked with no upper limit, and no good time or time served. Steal $500? Spend 50 days in the jug. But, that would actually reduce crime so it will never happen.

    1. But they're doing nothing about the 370 +/- that do 50% of the shoplifting that results in arrests. Can you imagine how heinous you have to shoplift to get arrested for shoplifting in NYFC?

  2. He Failed the Sgt. test, promoted anyway. Failed the Lieut test, promoted anyway. Failed the Capt. test anyway, promoted. Anyone see a pattern here?

  4. Mayor Adams' plan to reduce repeat offenders is to not arrest shoplifters in the first place, that way they can't be arrested another time.

  5. 1. Short term fix: Shoplifters caught and prosecuted 2. Longer Fix: Get away from teaching leftist crap in schools and get back to teaching respect for others and others' property in kindergarten 3. Longest Fix: Parents teaching "Thou shalt not steal" and other Biblical teachings.

    1. Shorter term fix: Allow shopkeepers to blast away, blast away. Give the shopkeepers free crime scene cleanup and a $5,000 bounty per shoplifter ended. Caveat: Must be caught on tape.

And then play the tapes over and over on continuous loops in the windows of shops everywhere.

  6. Hey, don't underestimate the power of Kiosks. I once bought a Mood Ring at the mall from a Kiosk and it was the best investment I ever made!

  8. Install in every neighborhood a old fashioned whipping-post and publically use it. it won't take long before theft drops to nothing.

    1. I was going to suggest that security guards should be allowed to take them into a back room and give them a paddling. Maybe but up a gallery of bright red arses as a warning.

  9. Or invoke shari'a law.
A few public dismemberments each morning should tend to reduce recidivism.

  10. Best idea? Shoot looters and thieves! We will have less looters and thieves! This is rocket science to people like Mayor Sharpton!
