FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — Just before a Tennessee high school graduation ceremony on Tuesday night, two juveniles died and a third left critical in what police say is a possible drug overdose.
Hell, we left a kegger party, went to graduation, then went back to the kegger. Some pot smoking there, not much, but it was the 80's. Pot back then was pretty mild, not like the shit today. Fun times.
No such activity when I graduated June 1960. Our after celebration consisted of a couple of us went out into the woods and plinked at cans, rocks and an occasional squirrel with our .22s.
The base commander organized a bonfire kegger out in the woods. It was actually pretty smart only 1 dirt trail into the clearing. Cars at the one end and bonfire at the other end of the clearing. MP's checked to make sure no one under 16 went in and no one driving out was drunk.
I remember the CG at Camp Pendleton allowed 18 and up to drink beers on base in an attempt to reduce the number of young Marines killed driving drunk back from Tiajuana around the time of ODS. He was of course severely reprimanded for his good faith effort.
