Commentary: Staying Sane in the Era of Rainbow Flag Totalitarianism

Many years ago, when I was just out of college, my friend George Hall introduced me to a punk rock song from the soundtrack of the 1984 film Repo Man. “Institutionalized,” by the group Suicidal Tendencies, is the darkly comic saga of a teenager named Mike who finds himself committed to a psychiatric facility merely because he asked his mother for a Pepsi. The chorus of the song contains this frantic refrain:

  2. Ice-T did a cover of that song with Body Count. It's hilarious and I really get where he's coming from. Especially his encounter with the vegan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9jXnZS3ouU

  3. I had an MRI today. The tech, brown skin, late twenties, talked my ear off about the crap Target has done wrt men's clothing. He was pretty angry by the time he said he had told his wife, and her friends, to never again step foot in any Target store.

It surprised me that he'd talk that way to a patient he'd not met before. He then said we're not supposed to say such things. I replied don't let them silence you, keep talking, tell everyone. But watch it around your employer.

There's hope for the younger gen.

    1. I was surprised by a young man last year who told me how much he loved my Pinochet 2024 I see dead Commies bumper sticker. He was very cognizant of what it meant. Yup, there is hope.

  4. Back in the '50's in high school (grad in '60) in a small, poor suburban Atlanta high school, in a class of 60 there were a couple of known Gay guys. One was pretty well out though the other was less obvious but known anyway. They were just like all our other friends. Nobody gave a shit. Thing was, just like those I worked with later, they may have been Gay, but they quietly did their work, and weren't in your face.
