Iconic 1911 Pistols Have Finally Been Retired From Marine Corps Service
The U.S. Marine Corps has removed the last of its .45 caliber M45A1 Close Quarters Battle Pistols from service. The M45A1s, which are heavily upgraded variants of the venerable Colt M1911, have now been replaced by 9x19mm M18 pistols. The Marines had been the last major American military user of M1911-series pistols, though other versions remain in increasingly limited service in the U.S. special operations community.

First the LGBTQOSTFU and DEI stuff in the Marines and now this? They were used in the MARSOC group, not the standard issue. The Marine Corps is finally dead.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the abortion of a 1911 chambered in 9 pew pew.
DeleteAnyone carrying that deserves to be pushed off the roof, then beat up, then ridiculed forever.
Tell that to Bill Wilson.
DeleteI have two Springfield Ronin EMP in 9mm. Awesome pistol.
DeleteSome BRANDS deserve ridicule, but caliber? More people die from .22 than any other caliber. My father had one gun, a single shot.22. He was deadly with it.
DeleteSome people can't handle a .45, some can.
I guess you'd be ok with a BAR chambered in .22
DeleteExtreme example to make my point.
If you want a 9, then buy a 9. But don't butcher an iconic pistol.
Love the 1911. If the shit were to hit the proverbial fan, I’d carry mine and hand out plastic 9mm’s like candy. BFYTW. Eod1sg Ret
ReplyDeleteI've got three 1911s. No 9mm.
Deleteyeah, well I have 2 9mm. one is a old West German made SiG 226 and the new Springfield SA-35. which is a lot better than the other 2 hi powers I have owned
Deletehave 4 1911 in 45 acp. I really don't like the "new" plastic guns per say.
Glocks just feel weird to me. too old school I guess, but a gun means steel and wood to me. dave in pa.
I love my (.45) 1911s.
DeleteI like my BHP and 3913.
I sold my P08 and C96.
I hope these "retirees" are made available for public purchase! I love the 1911 platform.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the CMP. I already have one from them. https://thecmp.org/sales-and-service/1911-information/
DeleteYet another sign of the impending apocalypse. Excuse me while I go clean my 1911s, one in .45acp and one in .38 Super. I shall, of course, do so while facing west and offering prayers to St. John of Ogden.
ReplyDeleteShoot much NRA bullseye? I just shoot the same 1911 in all stages. Didn't say I win with it.
Delete10MM, .45, .22 here. I can barely rack the 10MM anymore. Getting old sucks.
ReplyDeleteRetired by some but not by me. I'm with the guy steel and wood.
ReplyDeleteGhey. 9mm is strong enough for a man but made for a woman.
ReplyDeleteLet me shoot you with it then.
DeleteThe M18 isn’t even drop-safe.
ReplyDeleteThe main issue being, other than retired generals that like getting rich is the 1991's MARSOC used were so customized they tended to fail in certain environments, unlike a glock, sig or others. I had a Para 1911 style P-14 customized once and it took numerous trips to the gunsmith to finally get it right, and I wasnt having to worry about mud, sand, rain, salt water, etc...shame they didnt keep the .45 in the FNX or a G21. Fuck Sig, and 9mm. So double fuck M18.
ReplyDeleteMarine Corps hasn't been the same since they stopped drowning them in bootcamp.
ReplyDeleteI have a 1911 45’s. They are great. I have couple Dan Wesson nines. They work and shoot equally well.
ReplyDeleteMy best shooter is a Cz PCR.
Given the current state of the Military and based on converations I've had with current members and experiences with them out at the range, it doesn't make any difference. They don't seem to know what a sidearm is, why one would carry any such thing, or what they would do with it if they had it and they certainly can't tell you the differences in the use of a riflle, carbine, pistol, or shotgun. They might as well carry airsoft guns and wait for the missiles to do the work. We, as a nation, are in a lot of trouble. I'm in a postion to see the senior Military leadership as they retire through the revolving door into executive positions. I say again, we're in a lot of trouble.
