Meanwhile, in the county I came from...

TURLOCK, Calif. — A 22-year-old man who kidnapped a woman at gunpoint at a home in Turlock was arrested after a high-speed chase, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said. 

Angel Primitivo Garcia is accused of forcing entry into the home of a woman with whom he used to be in a relationship on S Morgan Road on Sunday. He allegedly hit a child with a gun and threatened other people in the home before dragging the woman out into his car.

Judging by what I read in the news every morning, had this happened in San Francisco, Houston or Chicago, he'd have been released on low or no bail. In Stanislaus County, his bail is set at almost a half million bucks.
