  1. Maybe they should use electricity "to save the environment" by exposing him to "Old Sparky"

Trying to show "climate change" is real by setting brush fires. Brilliant. Also helping to drive up homeowners insurance rates.

bogsidebunny - I like your thinking but but but the tree huggers might only agree if the electricity comes from "renewables".

Now this gets me thinking what if they try to pull the switch when the sun is not shining and the wind is not blowing. Does that delay the execution? So many things to consider. . . . .

    1. Pull the switch anyway. The wind will eventually blow; the sun will eventually shine. The tingle as things warm up could add a bit of suspense to the whole thing. Of course you could cook him before you kill him. That would upset PETA.

    2. Big capacitor hooked up to solar panels, when the charge gets lethal it fries the subject.

You can sell squares in the pool for when it will go off, should be able to break even.

  3. I imagine they will go after the good semaritan to put him in jail for assault. It will either be the city, county, state or feds. One of them will take him to court. FBI is probably disgruntled one of their fire starters got caught.

  4. 'Concerned community member'?
You mean a right-wing deplorable terrorist.

  5. "... 15 acres burned which is the equivalent of 11 football fields."

I weep for the state of education in America.

    1. Well, now, think about it. How many people have worked an acre? Compare that to the number of people who have seen a football field.

Using 'football field' as a visual comparator is actually a pretty good idea.

Now, the question is, just the actual field or the end zones also?

    2. Research took two secs.
An American football field is about 57,000 square feet.
      An acre is about 43,000sf.
A football field is about 1.3x the size of an acre.
The numbers in the press-release are reasonably accurate.
      .
This interested me because we farm.
'How many football fields fit in our acreage' sort of thing.
I am amazed... because I have zero interest in spectator games.
