'Massive US Oil Caverns' Are Now Empty, Will Take 'Decades To Refill' Thanks To Biden

While it took the Biden administration the better part of six months to drain the US oil supply down to a precarious 20-days of emergency reserves (a 40-year low), it will take decades to refill - if that happens at all, Bloomberg reports.

Nobody needs that oil around here.

  2. These never were designed to last much past the year 2000, but the current mismanagement will destroy them faster. The caverns are more like underground bottles, created by using solution mining techniques: Drill into a massive salt dome, circulate water and dissolve the salt, create a void. Into these, they pumped oil, and the Biden Administration has been steadily pumping it out. They do this by displacing the oil with water, and this is what destablizes the caverns. I doubt the Strategic Petroleum Reserve will ever recover to its former capacity, should they decide to refill it.

    1. And they were never designed to be drained and refilled multiple times.

  5. All part of the plan. Remember the energy independence and affordable gas of the Trump years? Can't be having any of that!

  6. They were only useful to protect against an oil embargo, but Trump showed that we don't really have a need to import oil anyway. They won't really be useful In the event of war, because you can bet they would be one of the primary targets for a missile attack.

  7. On the bright side, here's the site of the future Biden Presidential Library. A vast waste of space.
