Meanwhile, in my old hometown.....

MODESTO — The search is on for a thief who stole a transit bus right out of its Modesto station and drove it all the way to the Bay Area last week.

Police said a crook stole a Stanislaus RTA (StanRTA) bus Friday night.

StanRTA CEO Adam Barth said the suspect stole the bus and drove it from the Modesto downtown transit center to Milpitas, where he parked it on a residential street and took off.

The thing that I think is funny isn't the theft because that's what tweekers do, but the fact that he stole and drove it for two hours before somebody noticed it was missing.

    "I thought Jose was having it washed at the wash bay ..."

    It must have been someone who has driven a bus before. Two hours is quite a distance to drive without any collisions.
