Pee-Wee Herman dead at 70

Pee-wee Herman star Paul Reubens has died at the age of 70 - after a six-year secret battle with cancer.

Reubens battled the disease with his 'trademark tenacity and wit' and was remembered for his 'remarkable character and generosity of spirit.'

*****

It sucks that with all of his movies, the one thing he'll be remembered best for was the time..... let's see, how can I put this..... the time Pee-Wee got popped pulling his pud in a porn palace.

  1. Ironically, his TV set designer, the late Sid Bartholomew, was a homophobe, but they got along. Too good of a gig to pass up.

    1. He lived in the Blowing Rock/Boone area for years until got busted and moved to LA. Met him once when he snuck back in for a short visit.

  5. ". . . the time Pee-Wee got popped pulling his pud in a porn palace."

The crime situation in Sarasota was in such great shape the cops could spend their time trolling gay cinemas.

    1. They didn't show gay movies at that theater.

  6. He was a really good actor. I remember some stylist saying he'd make A list status if he would continue on in the style of Fred Astaire. I agreed! I don't think Hollywood would have let him, though, which makes this all the sadder. RIP

  14. The guy did probation for kiddie porn, so he was also a pedo.

    1. This is not true. He was fined and did probation for "obsenity" stemming from a vintage porn collection. The allegations of child porn were proven false.

  15. I knew Paul in high school. He was an ok dude. A little strange at times but very smart and funny as fuck. Contrary to rumors he was not gay.
The theater where he got busted was the South Gate Cinema, located in the parking lot of the South Gate Mall. It was known locally as PeeWee's playhouse until it was torn down a few years later.

  17. Dang! R.I.P. You brought so much laughter Pee Wee/Paul! I still quote lines from his movies, and they're always appropriate. Watched Playhouse with my kids and his movies. Genius.

  20. Stop using phobe on the end of words. Almost no one is afraid of homosexuals. Some people just don't like them and they have that right. Some people choose not to associate with them and they have that right. Mr. Bartholomew didn't like homosexuals. So what.
