NIMBYism at its finest

STATEN ISLAND - Tensions have reached a boiling point as Staten Island residents find themselves embroiled in a bitter dispute with the city over the relocation of asylum seekers to their neighborhood.

"Thank you very much Mayor Adams, you’re a real jerk," said Toni DeGennaro. "You should put them in your backyard. Go bring them to Gracie Mansion. We didn’t vote for this over here. We don’t want you here. Take them and get the hell outta here."

No sympathy. Now you know how that West and Southwest feel. Well, not really - wait until the day you go into a store and don't hear a single word of English being spoken. Wait until you glance over at the driver you're passing on the freeway and are startled to see a white person driving. Wait until the day you hear a Hispanic person bitching about all the illegals fucking shit up.

  1. Staten Island is the conservative step child of NYC. It still has a good population of Micks, Dagos & Krauts. 65% wanted to bail in 1990 from the shit city, but politics being politics screwed em.:

Its initial purpose was to secure a "yes" vote for the November 1990 referendum on Staten Island secession. Ultimately, 65% of Staten Island residents voted to secede, through the approval of a new city charter making Staten Island an independent city, but implementation was blocked in the State Assembly.

    1. Huh. I can go into any business in my town and it's all whites behind the counter. We've got less than 50 blacks in the county and the Mexicans all stick to field or restaurant work.

  3. Staten Island still smells funny. Must be from the proximity to Noo Joisy. Fun fact - Staten Island has a remnant of the bedrock from when it was joined to the African continent. If you are travelling north towards the Verazanno narrows Bridge, it will be off on your right... look for a big exposure of a green colored rock. It is "Staten Island serpentinite in the I-278 Road Cut"

The tolls on and off that place are ruinous.
