A gal and her husband that I know that sailed an old boat in the tropics said that she seen a vendor spray Raid on his meat in an open air market in Mexico in the early 70's. Flies were everywhere, except on his meat display.
I think it was Jack O'Connor, a shooting/hunting writer, who said when he hunted in one area in Mexico they always had sandwiches for lunch with this local cheese, white with black specks in it, and he loved it. Then one day he heard a lot of buzzing noise and eased over to find out what it was, and it turned out to be the local cheese makers, and he found out what the black specks were.
Another reason for me to do the work to grow and prepare as much of my own food as I can, I guess. I am truly sorry for those that cannot afford--either by finances or by available time--to do the same. I was in the same boat for a long time, but now I guess my family are to be the beneficiaries of my late father's near pathological frugality. -Just a Chemist
Those "bugs" don't fly like regular house flies. They fly more like bees or hornets, both of which are attracted by the odour of fermenting yeast, like in the uncooked bread being made.
I was hungry, but after watching that, I'm not hungry any more.
ReplyDeleteThat's gross!!!
ReplyDeleteAren't we supposed to start eat insects? This is just the slow approach.
ReplyDeleteWhen people look at you funny for saying things in a conversation like "3rd world shithole", you KNOW they've never seen this.

I don't see the problem. Isn't a sandwich just bread with protein in the middle?

The FDA allows a certain amount of bugs and rat poop per pound of food.
ReplyDeleteYou don't EVEN want to know about peanut butter...
DeleteI think this exceeds the limit for insect parts.
DeleteWhere is this place? And is any of that food coming to America and where in America?

Flies, bugs and no hand washing, no gloves either means do not eat the bread and other food made.
