US and Australia deepen military ties to counter China

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA -- The United States and Australia will deepen their military ties after reaching an agreement that expands their military cooperation as both countries work to deter China's growing influence and territorial claims in the western Pacific.

The agreements were announced following an annual meeting of the U.S. Defense Secretary and Secretary of State with their Australian counterparts, held this year in Brisbane, Australia.

  3. Yeah, that's what we need. Crocodile Dundee squeezing the nuts of our military "men" to see if they have any.

  4. I have no respect for what the politicians have done to the people of Australia and guns. But I refuse to let that cloud the memories of what a great, solid part ,the Australians have been to America in many times of war.
They are one of the countries who fought with us, often along side of our troops, in Vietnam, and were an honorable and courageous friend, and we should not forget about that. Also they were heavily involved in the Korean Conflict, partially because of their own interests, but they still were with us.
Of course being part of the U.K. during WWII, they were quick to declare war against Germany because of their allegiance to Great Britain.
My uncle was a lifer in the U.S. Army, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He was a support troop, a communications man, who only was involved in any gun fighting in Korea, which was intense. But he told me several times about the South Korean soldiers, I think he called them ROK's, and how they were not just great fighters, but brave to the point of almost being fanatical.
I don't make excuses for nations taking freedom from their own people, not forgetting that it is happening right here in the country that once stood on a hill as a beacon of freedom. But we must ensure that we don't rewrite history by ignoring the contributions made for America in the fight for freedom from tyranny. Too many brave men and women stood shoulder to shoulder with us, risking life and limb, to let ignorant liberal politicians make us forget solidarity among warriors. I can only hope that in America, freedom prevails, and that by doing so, we are able to help encourage the other nations that freedom does not harm the nation, but rather, it strengthens it, both with the bond between government and citizens, and with an ever growing group of countries that understand that individual freedom is the only thing that can overcome anything that tries to destroy the country as a whole.
America has always been considered a world leader in so many different areas, it is my solid prayer that through our example of the greatest possible freedom of the citizens, others will see that is the place from which real strength flows.

    2. Australia truly is a great ally.
It’s odd that the title “Our Greatest Ally” is reserved for a country that has fought in zero wars with us, and also tried to sink one of our ships.

  6. I am at Pearl Harbor weekly & most of our subs, destroyers & support ships are not in port. Its classified but we can guess where they are, somewhere west of Palawan Island in the Philippines. Possibly the Spratly Islands. Pearl also has been getting more aircraft carriers & landing helicopter assault ships coming through port for provisions more than usual.

  7. Straight up,some of you blokes need to do a bit of REAL history reading! You didn't fire a shot in the first one, until 1918. In the second one,you were dragged into it again after the Japs were silly enough to go head on with the US. The Aussies were fighting above their weight, well before you were old enough to be indoctrinated by your Hollywood crap.Take the time to read actual history...that;s if you can be bothered.
