Dick's Sporting Goods has reported a 23 percent drop in profits and blames rampant theft for the downward turn with the company's chairman warning the situation is expected to get worse.
I'd suggest that a goodly portion of the "23%" is due to their rampant wokeness and NOT rampant theft, which is just a handy excuse for their continued decline. Dicks can eat a bag of dicks. Ed
Ol Dick decided to stop sellng guns. If memory serves that was the main attraction to their stores. They made a lot of money off guns. Then I believe they decided to go woke and stop selling bad ol guns. Fuck them and the clintele they have attracted. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yet they kept the really innocent guns, like the .338 Lapua Magnum on a skeleton frame. You know so we could snipe those Elk from 1.2 miles away. :) Total hypocrisy. Woke go broke, good riddance.
Back when Dick's angered the gun crowd, I posted a comment on a survivalist site. Before the local mall died, I used to go into it thru Dick's. My observation was that the customers there were about 80% women buying high priced yoga clothes and mats and other crap, and that I didn't think the gun controversy would hurt them much.
When I lived up in WV, the dicks there was 99% an outdoor clothing store. There was a miniscule gun counter and a mediocre fishing section, the rest was yoga clothes and school age sporting equipment.
Moved back to Tx (thank God), and they built a combo dicks-field&stream store. Big enough to go after the Bass Pro / Cabelas market. Big gun counter, great fishing section, etc. They weren't cheap, but had stuff the other stores didn't. Then they went woke and I haven't been back. Don't drive by there enough to comment on how busy they stay, but I'm thinking a lot of stores are going be hurting in this economy regardless. Either way, though, they forever lost my business.
I live in the burbs of New Orleans. The local Dicks is behind our biggest mall in The burbs as well. Not a weapon or a bullet in the whole store. I'm enjoying watching them circle the drain even faster.
I dumped Dick's years ago because they were dicks.

ReplyDeleteEd
You can't put "rampant wokeness" on an insurance claim like you can "rampant theft".
DeleteDick’s shrinkage is overdue. F em.
ReplyDeleteBest big street sign at a different gun/sporting store:
ReplyDelete"We still sell ARs -
We're not Dicks"

ReplyDeleteNot all guns, just evil ARs.

DeleteWhat's wrong with sniping an Elk from 1.2 miles away? I've seen elk grab hunters and rip their lungs out!
DeleteBetter your lungs get ripped out by an elk than a 9mm...
DeleteBwahahahaha

ReplyDeleteYa, the guns/freedom people were not noticed, It took thieves to get their attention.
DeleteThey could go back to selling guns and stop being woke, but that means they would have to stop being Dicks.
ReplyDeletehopefully same fate as sports authority, fuckem

ReplyDeleteLots of big box stores sell guns and ammunition but not bullets.
DeleteKept waiting for Dick's to blame the shrinkage on the cold water.
ReplyDeleteWhen they were in business in my town they only sold Remington junk (guns AND ammo) and I'm sure they made a tidy profit off of that junk.
ReplyDeleteSons used to get their football and bball equipment there. Called the place 'Dick's Balls'.
ReplyDeleteF Dicks, haven't darkened their doors since they went woke and banned all gun sales. Not theft, you forgot what you are in business for. Suck it!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Go woke, go broke.
DeleteDamned Globally Warming!
ReplyDeleteI liked the zero hedge headline on this story better.
