PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A 70-year-old man died when he exited a moving ambulance on a Florida interstate and was hit by several vehicles on Tuesday, authorities said.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the ambulance was traveling south on Interstate 95 in Port St. Lucie at about 9 p.m. EDT when the patient, a Jacksonville resident, exited the rear doors of the vehicle, TCPalm.com reported.
If dementia is a factor that can explain the disorientation, and throw in the anger that often comes with it. It gets easier to see that as an outcome. But that's just one possible explanation.
My experience is they got you flat on your back, strapped down with doors shut and somebody or two standing beside you. How the fuck did he get out? Daryl
From link - "The ambulance did not belong to the St. Lucie County Fire District, Brenda Smith, a fire district spokesperson, told the news outlet."
Just a guess, but this could a private ambulance. They make their money transporting patients at $200 - $300 a trip for the Medicare scam, when in many cases, a taxi could do the same thing for 50 bucks.
Must have been...disoriented...or something.
ReplyDeleteSo 'exited' like he opened the door and jumped out, or 'exited' like a euphemism for 'we didn't shut the door or secure the gurney correctly'?
ReplyDeleteMy thought also.

How many points do you get for running over a guy falling/jumping from a ambulance? Asking for a driver in Death Race 2000.
ReplyDeleteThat'd do it.
