Forgot you had that body cam on, huh?

SEATTLE - Authorities are investigating after shocking body cam video showed how one Seattle Police officer reacted to the death of a woman hit and killed by a patrol car during an emergency response.

Seattle Police on Monday released body cam video from officer Daniel Auderer—who is also the Vice President of the Seattle Police Officers Guild—in which he is heard insulting, joking and laughing about 23-year-old Jaahnavi Kandula, who was struck in a crosswalk while police were responding to an overdose in the area.

Check out the video at the link. At the end you can see him start to fumble with it to turn it off.

  1. Par for the mentality and not at all surprising. I've worked with plenty of cops and have learned from them that there are three kinds of people: Other cops, criminals and assholes. Which are YOU?

  2. You should hear paramedics talk/joke about fatalities they see. Cops see this shit all the time and build an immunity to it. Part of it is gallows humor. And the cop wasn’t joking about the dead girl, he was joking about the idiots in Seattle who pay out millions $ when an accident happens involving a cop.

    1. I think the Panopticon makes this crap inevitable. Being inappropriate is one way of dealing with horrible things.
Glad I don't have a body cam recording me all the time.

  3. I've worked in public service for over 30 years.
You see some sh!t people should never see. You learn to separate. Whatever way you choose. He did think it was a private conversation.
Some people i worked with couldn't separate and left the job. Does not mean you can't perform your job. Imo.

  4. I'm a volunteer with my local EMA so I'm around a lot of fire, ems and cops in private, casual settings. Most people would be shocked and appalled at the level of comtempt they have for average citizens.

    1. Your post means (not merely implies) that it is undeserved.

    2. Please, Please, Please DO NOT make assumptions based on this vid! It is taken entirely out of context! The officer is talking to his supervisor about the incident and they are BOTH mocking the lawyers that will get involved. The MSM is once again manipulating public opinion to fit the liberal left's agenda. See this link for more:

  5. Unprofessional. Given how Seattle cops have performed in the last few years, not terribly surprising. This is why the average citizen holds cops in as much contempt as cops do average citizens. They earned it.

  6. I was a flight paramedic for years until I burned out. You get tired of seeing things you cannot un-see.

  7. So ask those who work in the medical field, nurses-doctors, about their "unheard" humor. Don't ask about morgue humor unless your mentally strong.

  8. You know you're a nurse when your sense of humor gets more warped every year.
There is a bit of truth there.
Just before I left one facility, we were placing a leach on a patient's hand to stimulate formation of an artery. That is the medical sense and specific orders to match. The nurses were the ones who had to deal with administering this and all the ramifications like leeches crawling off and having to find them. Guess the level of humor in the break area...
I could not recommend monitoring providers giving this level of treatment. It will come out somewhere. Guaranteed.
