At least 28% of businesses who responded to the survey reported that they had closed locations because of organized retail theft, while 30% reduced or altered their in-store product selections. Out of the 177 retail brands surveyed, 88% said that shoplifters had become somewhat more or much more violent in 2022 compared to the previous year.
Retailers didn't lose billions in 2022. They just passed it on to their customers.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are seeing it ALL WRONG!
ReplyDeleteWe would have had to pay an extra $112 billion in taxes to support these thugs if we would not have allowed them to 'work' or steal for a living.
Its not an either/or as you propose. The rats are taking both.

ReplyDeleteI'd think that (generally) once violence becomes a factor it's not "shoplifting" anymore as it's turned into a violent crime...
The cops won't arrest shoplifters in Columbus, OH. They won't even get involved.
ReplyDeleteIronically, Target is closing stores. They should be forced to keep those stores open and maintain them at peak inventory. After all, they invited all of this change.
