‘Constitutional Carry’ in Omaha Hardly Lives Up to Its Name

“Omaha police said in the six weeks since Nebraska’s constitutional carry law took effect they’ve arrested several people for failing to tell police they have a gun on them when they’re contacted,” ABC’s KETV 7 reported Wednesday. “[A]ccording to law enforcement booking information, at least one person has been charged with ‘failure to disclose’ a concealed weapon every day in the last week.”

  1. On some level I do understand people wanting to carry a gun but really don't see the point

    1. Well, I live 5 miles from the nearest town and the local deputies are at least a half hour away. I can't count on them saving me if something were to happen here. Hell, 30 seconds may be too late.
Yes, I sleep with a gun and as soon as I get out of bed in the morning, before I even leave my bedroom, my handgun is in my holster.

    2. Well your seeing the point is immaterial to us, Australians acted like good little sheep and did what the government told them to do, your ancestors would be embarrassed by how easily y'all give into government overreach.... Most Americans are not sheep, we have taken care of our own for centuries and we are not about to let lying, stealing, self-serving, ignorant feel good policies to take away our rights....
Freedom is not always pretty, hell sometimes it's down right ugly but when decisions have to be made .....
We will die on our feet not live on our knees....
Maybe that clears us the subject matter for you

You’ve been brought up being a “subject of the crown” - not a “citizen”.
You’re used to being told, “This is how you will act and a think.”
      Citizens think for themselves.
The point is being your own First Responder.
Ain’t nobody coming to help you (especially the govt/police) when you need it most, you’re on your own.
Carry self protection or don’t, I don’t care.

    6. In a crisis the police are minutes away....a .357magnum, however, travels at 1700 feet per second pushing a 180 grain projectile.....choose wisely....

  2. "“You have the right to carry the gun on you. But you also need to let law enforcement know, for their protection, everything else, so that that you have the firearm on you,” Capt. Keith Williamson of the Omaha Police Department gang unit asserted."

Oh yeah? I have a fifth amendment right to keep my goddamned mouth shut when the police contact me.

    1. Yeah, exactly, I never really understood the 'duty to inform' bullshit. They think they're special...
I get that it serves as a notice to the police, but... If I'm armed illegally, am I going to inform the cop at a traffic stop? Fuck No.
Once again they pinch the law abiding legal gun owners. Man fuck them. Stop wasting your time on good honest people you fucking pricks, catch the damn killers and thieves.
Did you pat yourself on the back because you fined a half-dozen taxpaying citizens? How does that help the community? Fucking pricks. This is why people hate cops. Capital crimes continue and criminals run around free as a bird, you waste time, money, paperwork, and the courts on petty bullshit fines against honest upstanding citizens.

But, but, but why do all the citizens scoul and avert their eyes when they see me? Fucking pigs.

  3. That’s the great thing about living in most parts of America. You can choose to go around completely defenseless or you can choose to go around with the ability to defend yourself and your loved ones in the unlikely event you have to. Your choice. You only go around once. Eod1sg Ret

  4. I'll bet I can spot all the police chiefs that don't approve of the new "Constitutional Carry" by they way they push this "Duty to Inform" bullshit.
Q: Does Nebraska indeed have a "Duty to Inform" law??

    1. Yes, if you have a CHP.

    2. IF you have a conceal carry license? So if you don't have said license, and are open carrying, you do not have a duty to inform. Is that not correct?
To be honest, if I'm open carrying and the cop misses it on my hip, thats on them. Its not my job to make them do theirs better, fuck them, fuck that!

  5. I think if your state correctly has constitutional carry, then every po po should expect every single person to be armed, period.

    1. They expect that regardless of any law in place.
EVERY cop treats anyone as being armed until proven otherwise. It’s SOP in their training.

  6. I don’t like orcs. They are dirty nasty creatures created only to serve the edicts of the evil empire. Avoid the orc. Never converse with the orc.
