Does it prepay too?

Sorry kids, we don't eat this week, Tesla ordered itself a new sensor.

  1. Isn't it weird that the guy who owns Tesla loves sensors, but that the democrats hate his guts because he is against the use of censors?

  2. Read a post where a Tesla owner was shocked to receive a 17K bill for a new battery. It gets funnier once you scroll thru the story. https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/edinburgh-couple-fume-handed-17k-27906242

    4. Thumbs up for Rock Auto. Great prices, and their shipping speed has really improved. Site takes a little navigating but worth it.

    5. Bulbs and wipers have gone straight to the moon, costwise.

    1. About a month ago I went to have my oil changed and they told me I had a weak battery and asked if I wanted them to change it out for me. I told them no because I didn't want to pay a labor charge as well as a mark-up on the battery. When I finally got around to pulling it, I found I had a broken battery clamp. I pulled the battery and went to the parts store and had them re-check it for me, suspecting the broken clamp had a lot to do with the weak reading at the oil change place. It turns out my battery was in excellent shape and I was glad because you're right, a good (I don't scrimp on certain parts) battery would've run me right at $240 before taxes.

That's probably the first time in my life I've walked out of a parts store spending less than I anticipated. I think I paid 7 bucks for a new clamp which beats the shit out of the $300 I would've paid for a new battery and clamps.

    2. Bend waaay over if you own a specialty car like a BMW e93, or even a little Miata. Dedicated model specific batteries $$$$. I'm in for over 1k in batts this year alone with the boat (2) and my son's ancient Tribute. Truck batt is getting lazy now in the cooler weather. FML.

  8. I just had the water pump replaced on the 23 year old V-6 Isuzu. Bill was $981!!!! Mechanic explained that replacing the water pump involved taking the whole front of the engine down - which includes the belt-drive assembly for the double overhead cams - all of which gets replaced; belt, hydraulic tensioner, idlers, etc.; don't want to re-use original parts in a zero clearance engine - as well as the pump. . . ouch

    ouch

    1. I feel ya. I put the van in for a tune-up last year and it ran me 800 bucks. The last sparkplug is so far back they had to take the intake manifold out.
