Smith and Wesson Ditches Blue Massachusetts, Moves HQ to Friendlier Tennessee
In a move that will surely make my colleagues Jeff Charles and Ward Clark happy, renowned firearms manufacturer Smith & Wesson ditched deep blue Massachusetts and moved its headquarters to friendlier pastures in Tennessee. Although the move was announced in 2021, it was on Saturday that the company officially opened its new 650,000-square feet building in Maryville as part of a $125 million relocation effort.

Took 'em long enough, but better later than never.
ReplyDeleteWill Savage be next? Then Kahr Arms and Camfour? I don't doubt it. Ruger and Colt will surely flee Connecticut soon with good reason.
ReplyDeleteSo the advocate that represents nobody can claim what great work they have done in massachewits. As a bonus they get to cash their nonprofit check paid for by the taxpayer. As an insult the people fired get to scramble for a new job.
ReplyDeleteOr they can stay in Massachusetts and continue to feed the beast through their taxes that opposes everything they stand for.
DeleteI know an attorney who works for Ruger. They have operations in New Hampshire, Arizona and North Carolina (I think) but are headquartered in Connecticut. He has told me, very vehemently, that the company will not invest another single penny in Connecticut. When the headquarters building needs a new roof or other capital expenditure, the twenty positions there will simply be moved to one of their other locations.
ReplyDeleteThat'll put a dent in Springfield's coffers. Can you guess what's coming next for the people there? I self=deported from Massholistan in 1990 and have never been happier.

Still won't buy anything with a Hillary Hole in it.
ReplyDeleteeven with all of that tax money walking out of state will wake them up to the fact that taxing people to death will make them move away from you. but then the assholes thinking up the tax never think that people will just stop living there or working there. they only see MONEY
ReplyDeletethat they can take. not that they do anything good with it anyway. dave in pa.
The Maryville area is very beautiful and convenient for all who enjoy the Smoky Mountains and especially any motorcycle riders out there..

My wife's home town. We lived there from '04 to '11 after I retired from the telephone company. It was one of the two best places I've ever lived (after Atlanta, my home town, went to the dogs). I hear that it's gone toward woke in the last few years, probably because it attracted too many from outside the South.
ReplyDeleteMoving to Tennessee puts a beard on their operation they greatly need however they will probably sell out again without hesitation.
ReplyDeleteThey should adjust the lettering and logo to Republican Red.
ReplyDeleteNH is just up the road a bit..and we could use the help...
ReplyDeleteVery soon I hope to follow them. Retiring.
