MARYSVILLE - A Marysville woman is speaking out after she says a Yuba County Sheriff's K-9 accidentally attacked her while deputies were chasing a suspect.
Terrifying moments for Myra Riddle as she says she still feels the pain from the K-9 attack and is still shaken from the whole ordeal.
Dogs as Ill-trained as their human counterparts?

Police dog? Then 100% blame is on the handler.
ReplyDeleteA dog that won't release, out, on command has no control and should never be released off lease, truthfully it shouldn't be on the street but I know some whiney bitch will have " reasons " to state otherwise

All the above. Comes down to budget. Departments probably expend their budget just buying the K9 and don't support the amount of training time required to stay proficient. As noted above, same with Officers only.
ReplyDeleteSue the crap out of the department and get the court to eliminate the K9 unit if they won't meet standards.

True, around here they have gone pretty much exclusively to the Belgium Malinois and while they great dogs they are high strung like a mother fucker..... Lots of work goes into training and maintaining their training, it's a continuous process.... Any dog trained to bite humans has to be under control of their handler at all times... A clear thinking handler.

Sounds like a department than needs to learn to live within it's means. If they can't afford to properly train a team, then perhaps they can't afford a K9.
Delete"She is thankful that it was she who was attacked and not her wife, who currently has a medical condition, and her friend, who was with her when the attack happened." I guess the dog is a homophobe?
ReplyDeleteShe probably had peanut butter left over from earlier.
