Billy The Kid Museum - Part 1

Billy the Kid was one of the more infamous outlaws in the American wild west. He was known as a teenage gunslinger that few would dare cross. Don Sweet owns the museum dedicated to his legend in the town where he too was shot in an ambush, then remains buried to this day in the Pecos River Valley south of Fort Sumner, New Mexico.

I'm impressed. Not only is this museum packed full of Billy the Kid and Fort Sumner artifacts, it also has a ton of general western historical items.

When we moved out here I made it a point to detour to Lincoln County so I could see the historical sites I've heard about all my life, and to visit Billy the Kid's gravesite.
Lane Luck being what it is, we drove right past this museum, but visited the one near the grave which wasn't nearly as good.

  1. I've been fascinated by the stories of Billy the Kid and of The Gunfight At The OK Corral since I was a young boy. Thanks for this, Kenny.
