Commentary: As Education Decentralizes, Those Who Like Control Are Nervous

As more parents gain the opportunity to abandon a compulsory schooling assignment for other options, including homeschooling and microschooling, it’s no surprise that those who favor top-down control of education feel anxious about this bottom-up education transformation. This nervousness is occurring on both ends of the political spectrum.

  1. Part of our election cycle is Director of Education as well as heads of local school boards and yep the control freaks are having hissy fits over all the positions they are losing state wide.....

  2. I'm glad that it's happening, this is a monopoly that needs/deserves to be smashed. If the product they put out was on par with what the ChiComs are producing, then you might have a point. However, we have been graduating kids that cannot read, nor write and they're demanding jobs, to do what exactly? What are they qualified to do other than steal oxygen?
Unlike most on the right, I have always been against school choice. My reasoning is simple: 1) It's just another subsidy that I will not qualify for.
    2) I will not tolerate inner-city ferals being anywhere near my kids. If they get access to the local school, that means they will be moving into the area as well and they destroy whatever area they occupy, like cancer. There is no co-existing with cancer.

  3. Bogside's principle of corporate infrastructure applied to school boards: Neurotic Control Freaks ascend to positions of power assisted by Brown Nosers and shit on those under them.

  4. "On the political left, The Washington Post did some pearl-clutching last week around the possibility that “no government official will ever check on what, or how well, [homeschoolers] are being taught.” "

As if they are doing this for public schools, which are failing spectacularly at educating. And why would a government official be the right judge? Some of the most ignorant people I know work for the government.
