Ever since the earliest days of the Republic, American intellectuals, artists, and statesmen looked to Europe for models. Conservatives felt attracted to the continent’s sense of continuity and tradition, and as the base for Christianity. More recently, progressives saw in European social democracy and globalist pacifism a role model to be embraced.
Europe has been in decline since WW1.. It's a crackpipe dream to believe Europe is any kind of utopia, socialism and soft communism have been the norm there for a very long time.... Add in the EU nightmare of no longer having the rights of your country, unless you're Germany or France, for self rule...

As a German who loves his country but NOT the politicians, I say that it is either "burn it to the ground, salt it with nuclear things that for the next 10.000 years it is totally unusable for human life or give as a real German government.
