Extended gas tax break in Georgia has some Tennessee residents crossing state lines to fill up

CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia residents will continue seeing relief at the gas pump, with the governor extending the state's tax break on gasoline and diesel.

With the extension, some drivers are crossing state lines to get cheaper gas.

Hey, every penny counts these days. The last time I was in town, I think I topped off at $2.96 a gallon.

  1. Wow, that's good news, every time I've driven through Georgia on my way to Tennessee I made sure to tank up in Alabama if I wasn't sure I could make it through Georgia due to such crazy high gas prices

  3. Gas in Lafayette has fallen below three bucks. Meanwhile in Gaviefornia, it's just fallen below five bucks for the first time this summer. What used to be a $1.30 difference between our prices is now a two dollar difference, minimum. Funny how that works.

And the PUC just granted PG&E a $32.50 monthly average increase to its customers. No big deal. That's only a $390 a year price increase.
    Sheesh.

  4. Kemp did this for 6+ months last year. Old news. BTW, his new Lt. Gov. Burt Jones' family is a huge oil jobber, one of the largest in GA.

    1. Where?
I'd give my eye teeth to be able to get non-ethanol fuel at any price, let alone at $3.25 a gallon. Count your blessings, Friend.

    2. Elmo - have you looked for stations in your area that are listed in the pure-gas-dot-org website?

    3. The closest place is over an hour away. But there's hope. That dealer has just bought out a local bulk plant. They don't carry ethanol free fuel yet but maybe they will.

  7. Here on the west side of Michigan, we have not seen under 3 bucks for quite some time. We are now at about $3.29 a gallon at most places. The place on the corner by my place is run by a Muslim man, we call Habib. He is usually the last one to raise prices, and the first to lower them. When the other stations go from $3.29 to $3.69, his place will be packed with people who know that they have maybe 4-5 hours before he has to raise his prices.
From what I understand, most gas stations prices are controlled by the companies that supply them, such as Mobil, BP, etc. The places don't make a lot of money on gas sales, so that is why they sell beer, pop, chips, etc. Habib even sells pizza and sub sandwiches, and has a better liquor section than a lot of stores.

    1. Gas stations around here sell fried chicken, deep fried cheese sticks, fried potato wedges and fried prawns. We don't give a shit about our arteries.

    2. As it should be.
Fuck the people that claim to care more about your arteries than you do.

  8. Regular unleaded gas is currently $2.53 locally.

The local supermarket has an awards program and the points can be applied to gas up to $1.00 a gallon. Which means that later this month I'll be able to fill up for $1.53 a gallon. Given how much I had to spend to get those points, it's not much of a savings. But it is something!

  9. My state didn't sell alcohol on Sundays. Until they saw how many were crossing the border to buy it.

  10. Almost $7usd a gallon here in NZ... inevitable result of a bunch of socailists running the place.

  11. I saw $2.95 yesterday in Florida at several stations, that's the lowest I've seen in a long time!

  12. About $2.80 ish here in the upstate depending what little burg you're in. And as far as the local supermarket gas savings, it's unlimited up to 20 gallons. Five cent discount per one hundred dollars spent. If you shop on Tuesday, you get triple points.

  13. $2.49 here in the San Antonio burbs at HEB. Our Valero stations are independently operated and range from about $2.59 to $2.99 just a mile apart from one another.

  14. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I'd always drive to New Jersey to get gasoline (and liquor).

Today, gasoline in Colorado is under $3 a gallon.

  15. Here on the Peninsula, $3.79. When I moved here almost 3 years ago, it was $3.69. Considering inflation on top of fucking Inslee's climate change gas tax which adds almost .50/gal, the current price is amazing.

  16. I'm seeing low prices across this fine nation. And Biden didn't have to lock us down either! FDT

    1. Now reach waaay back into your little pea brain and remember what the gas prices were the last month of Trump's presidency and then again a month after your fucking hero Biden took office.
And Trump may have been the one to initiate the lockdowns, but it was Biden that kept them in place for how long? And tried to force vaccinations on all of us?
Fucking liberal idiots and their short memories, I swear.....
