“He knew his days were numbered,” Roger Crawford said.
When Randy Crawford was born, doctors told his parents he would not make it out of the hospital, but he celebrated his first birthday then two.
Today, Randy would have turned 20.

John Force has always been kid friendly. I bet I went to 4-5 NHRA events at Sears Point before I ever got his autograph because John Force would reach past 2 dozen adult fans holding out programs or hats for him to sign just to talk with a kid and sign his stuff.
World needs more like Randy. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteDangit. I didn't know it was this dusty in here this early.

ReplyDeleteThere must be dust in the room. So sad when good people are lost.
ReplyDeleteI'm a crusty old retiree who's never posted a comment before, but this prompted me to email John Force racing and thank him for caring about a little nobody in a small town in Oklahoma. Thanks for sharing the story.
ReplyDeleteA friend told me that guys like John Force are the reason that he follows racing and not MLB or NFL. The people involved are approachable and most all are down to earth and kind.
ReplyDeleteThat's the truth. At an NHRA event, you can wander around the pit area and actually have a conversation with the drivers. Eddie Hill once invited me into his pit so we could talk while him and his crew chief finished his engine. When I left, his wife Ercie planted a big ol' kiss right on my cheek.
DeleteEddie Hill never made it real big, but he'll always be my favorite driver.
Those are MEN - both of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great kid. An amazing young man for sure.
ReplyDeleteI built a number of Top Fuel dragsters back in the late 70s and early 80s but never met Force. with that saying, In my opinion John Force has done more for the NHRA and drag racing then anyone that ever went down the track! A man of the fans!
ReplyDeleteNo argument there, that's for sure.
DeleteThis presents a little hope that not all of America's children have become self-centered little asses. May you rest in peace Randy, knowing you have touched peoples hearts and given them hope for the future.
ReplyDeleteThank You for publishing this, I searched out Randy Crawford, he was a 1 in 100 young man, the world needs many like him, you and he have brightened my day.
