In some ethnic communities, it can be difficult to distinguish between perps and the innocent. That's why DNA can come in handy. Couldn't honestly blame a jury that convicted that cop of the crime - he does have a strong resemblance to the perp. I taught in an inner city school for many years. Particularly with men, genetics is often written on their faces. I'd see cousins and even more distantly related students, and think, MAN! A lot of men's faces and physiques comes STRAIGHT from Dad.
