Good Grief! If I don't get through a light on one cycle I call that horrible traffic. Nice bridge ya got there.. And a whole bunch of trouble if something happened to it.
And they're thinking of hiking tolls by $1.50. This was back in June. https://www.ukiahdailyjournal.com/2023/06/26/1-50-bridge-toll-hike-bay-area-drivers-could-be-on-the-hook-to-help-bail-out-bart-and-other-transit-2/
No, that’s the new bridge and it’s not photoshopped. I just drove across it the other night, w/o traffic. And yes, it sucks to have to commute across it. No question about it.
They have the BART (train that runs under the bay) so working in the city does not mean that you HAVE to deal with that mess...but it doesn't go everywhere.
I once drove into San Francisco from Sacramento for a meeting. I was planning to change into my suit when I arrived. I ended up changing in my car during the forty-five minutes it took to get from Richmond to the toll plaza (roughly 5 miles).
Before I left California I heard that once you have the Bay Bridge in sight from Oakland, you still have another hour to go before you're actually on it.
My #2 son only has to make a trip halfway across the bay-- Oakland to Treasure Island. His business operates out of one of the stalls at the old Hobby Shop Garage. '81-'84 I had to make a commute from Moffett Field to the east side of San Jose when most of it was still two lanes in both directions.
Why... why would you live there?
ReplyDeletewhy would anyone be willing to live with yankees and snow and ice?
DeleteThe pay is good. Firemen in Oakland and S.F. can make $300,000 a year working 8 days a month.

In Arizona a motorcycle can run the light (safely, of course) after the second cycle. I usually don't wait that long.
DeleteIt's not the traffic, it's the assholes whose face drop to their phones everytime they stop and won't get going again till someone honks at them.
DeleteI counted 10 lanes funneling into 2. You'd best be prepared to wait awhile.
ReplyDeleteThat's a picture of the old bridge. They added a whole new bridge.
ReplyDeleteNo, that's the new one. The old one was had two cantilever sections just before the tunnel. This photo is of the new cable stayed suspension section.
DeleteThey didn't add a new bridge, they replaced the one that had partially collapsed in the '89 Loma Prieta earthquake.
Both the old and new bridges are nothing but a distant memory for me. Heh.
DeleteIt's been 50+ years since I crossed that part of the Bay. Haven't missed it a bit.
DeleteSorry boys, I'm calling photoshop on that one.
ReplyDeleteYou've obviously never been across the old Bay Bridge before.
DeleteIf you posted a picture of the sunrise someone would claim it was photoshop.
