Chicago man steals his own car

CHICAGO — How is it possible to get charged with auto theft when you own the car that was allegedly stolen? That’s a question Malik Matthews may be answering for years to come.

  4. I did that once. Tow Co. took my car because I parked in the wrong (empty) lot while moving the kids stuff into a college dorm. It was a racket they ran on newcomers to the school. I walked to the tow place, went around back, and there was my car sitting there. So I walked in, jumped in the car, and took off. I was miles down the interstate and out of town before any APB could go out. Never heard from them, but they probably lock their holding lot down better.

  5. Just further proof that you really do not own your property. You merely rent it from the state. Failure to pay means you lose your property.
