Using this platform, I've come to find out there's not much I can do except bitch and complain to Blogger which obviously does no good.
This morning I got an email from Dakota Viking outlining something that helped him.
Hey there,
Your Blog is a daily read (ok 5 days... close enough). I've commented infrequently over the years, but I have noticed over the past few weeks (months?) several times got "your comment failed to publish try again later" (or something close) once or twice one slipped in with the normal "will be published after moderation". While trying to decide whether to mash on the "publish" button for the third time this morning, I pondered the "sign in with google" prompt in comments. My default search engine is yahoo (I don't know why), so I changed it to google... Well S.O.B. "will be published after moderation" popped right up. Didn't sign in, just switched search engines... Throwing the info out there in case there are other pieces to a puzzle.

What that has to do with anything, I have no idea, but it might be worth a shot.
I run through Proton VPN and get the failed message. Sometimes after multiple fails cycling to a different VPN server lets it go through. If I go direct without the VPN goes right through every time. I think Googly is just being an ass.

I have not had problems commenting lately. Move to Hawaii as maybe our undersea fiber cable allows comments to flow to Tennessee?
ReplyDeleteFunny how if you submit and they are allowed to track you better the internet just magically works....
ReplyDeleteThis was going to be my point. If you really are unknown, Blogger won't let you comment. If you're "anonymous" but Blogger can track you, they'll let you comment.
DeleteThat's not the case. There's been too many times to count that I've gotten the same 'failure to publish' message while trying to reply to a comment on my own blog, and I never sign out. Matter of fact, my comment page is my home page on my computer.
Deleteme too and I have the same problem across the internet.
DeleteIf it is any worth, I have never had a failure, but I also don't sign in. I always use the Name / URL link or Anonymous.
DeleteFWIW, about 18 mos. ago, I could no longer comment, here or on 1 or 2 other blogs, on my phone using >Google Chrome<. I just get the error message, every time. If I use Brave, no problemo. I also note that Chrome is always "suggesting" that I log in.
DeleteOn my PC, I use Brave exclusively. I get the error mssg once in a while, but 2nd try always works.
Me too. Same problem.
DeleteAnimal sacrifices.
ReplyDeleteSee? Comment posted fine.
I have had no issues commenting here, but,if I have to sign in with Gaggle will only be reading here and no comments.
ReplyDeleteI use Google on Chrome to read The Daily Timewaster on my laptop. It'll usually let me comment 2 or 3 times until it says to hell with you and refuses to publish any more comments. Only on extremely rare occasions have I had a probkem commenting here using Brave on my Androud.
ReplyDeleteI have had that happen here and the Daily Timewaster as well lately. I just keep re submitting my comment and they go through on the forth or fifth attempt every time.

I've noticed on some occasions I get the "Comment failed to publish". The in a minute or so I try again and it goes through ok. I think it's because commenters and stepping on each other, "push the comment button" at the same time. And maybe when someone pushes the comment button just as a new thread is being published the comment fails to publish. Personally it don't bother me. I got plenty of time on my hands so I keep puching the comment button till it finally goes through.
ReplyDeleteNever had a problem. I guess I'm using Google. I'm barely literate in computer... so maybe Drunks and Fools applies to this as well.
ReplyDeleteI use Brave and it seems fine, sometimes though, I alz out and forget to hit 'PUBLISH'...hehe!

It won’t let me comment using Starlink as my connection, but is OK on the regular cell system.
ReplyDeleteProbably not worth your time and aggrevation, but that's the kind of comment that you should forward to your representatives.
ReplyDeletei have problems because I block most of google's services....when I want to comment i unblock them for 5 minutes.
I use Startpage, no issues here or anywhere. It claims no tracking.
ReplyDeleteI use Duck and run into the “failed to publish” flag occasionally - I just assume God is telling me to not be such a dumbass.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered switching over to Disqus comments? I post thru Discus to several other sites. They allow several editing features, like bold, italic, underline in comments. Also allow editing comment after posting and posting pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy old blog comments were through Disqus. This one doesn't offer that option.
DeleteDisqus only allows comments from registered users that MUST sign in to comment. That would be a nogo for me.
DeleteI've noticed lately that I occasionally get the "failed to publish message" and I've got it occasionally over the years commenting here and on other sites. What I've found is that my browser's cache is overloaded. When I clear Firefox's browser history, which includes clearing cache, that usually corrects the problem. I know it's a pain in the ass, but it works for me. YMMV.

Mozilla Firefox browser with DDG as default search engine - no problems, ever, from my neck of the interwoodz.
ReplyDeleteIf one is willing to do business with the Devil, then the interweb will work flawlessly. There are several blogs that I used to frequent that I no longer will go to as they require I create a googless account to log in.
ReplyDeleteI will not willingly use the services of a company who hates me.
Had a pithy comment that was wiped out. Denied 6 times to publish. Will switch to google engine and try again.
ReplyDelete"Your comment will be visible after approval."
ReplyDeleteFor a while I couldn't comment using Opera browser but was able to using Firefox. Now Opera works fine since I cleared my cookies and started over.
